Before we start with 10 coolest places in Brno…

Moravian part of Czechia is full of amazing homemade wine. Don't leave Brno without trying their local wine! This article 10 coolest places in Brno is mainly focused on beer, however, there will be some about wine coming up. What is really important to know is that a beer in pubs and restaurants is usually cheaper than juice or water. Most of the times are double cheaper than a coffee. Probably because of that Czech people can drink beer even at 10 am.

Here's the trick: Pubs in Brno from outside is quite...rustic. OK, let’s be honest, they are usually falling apart. Don’t be shocked if you are walking around and don't find any nice looking place. I have great news for you! Places are not attractive outside but from inside they are magically weird! If you are interested to find out how Brno people attract their visitors, check this 10 coolest places in Brno list.

You should not go from Brno without visiting this place. This bar deserves to be first on the list for 10 coolest places in Brno. It's only because of the concept, but because of the atmosphere. Have you ever been in a pub without chairs? Imagine, Czech guys made an attraction from it! There are two Na stojaka pubs, but the main one is in the central center. The name means something like an adjective how you to want to do something - similar to the phrase "is this beer for here or to go". Let me explain better, it means like having something (e.g.having a beer) while standing.

Na stojaka is the most popular place during the summer. Are you wondering why would you go to a place without chairs?! No one knows but the place itself is always crowded.

The meeting point is the square outside of it. You have a feeling the whole town is there, seating, literally, on the street with a beer in their hands. The cost of beer is higher than usual though, around 45 czk (almost 2 euros). The type of beer is changing time to time but most of the time they have IPAs.

The most famous ones are Stojačke poupe and Chotebor. Watch out! During the summer, there is always a huge line for a beer. People are buying it and sitting on benches or asphalt for the whole night. That means something, huh?

Click on the video to see how it looks like during the summer.

2. Beer stock market pub - Pivni burza (link here)

The street: The first one: Veveri 52/11 & the second one: Janska 16.

How to get to the first one: By walking or taking a tram from the city center and stop Česka - it takes around 10 minutes. By tram 3, 11 or 12 to Grohova stop or the night buses N92, N93, N99. Buses 32, 34 or 36 to go to Smetanova stop, which is a few minutes away from Grohova stop.

How to get to the second one: It takes the same time from the Česka stop. By tram 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 12 to Malinovskeho namesti stop. Bus 67 and night buses N90, N91, N92, N93, N94, N97, N99.

Open both: Every day but Sunday from 3 pm to 1 am. Sunday closed.

On the first look, it’s a regular pub with big tables and prepare yourself, you will smell the food. Do you know what's the secret about this pub? It's beer stock market, really! There is a screen on the tables and walls which shows the price of the beer every second.

What does it mean? The most ordered beer that night is the most expensive one. You order the beer on this screen. Just press a button on your table and you will see which price you will be charged.

You will most probably find some usual beers on tap, however, they are changing it very often. For example, there are usually beers from factories such as a Rychtar, Lobkovitz-a, Klašter, Ježek, Uhersky Brod, Černa hora, Protivin, Vysoky Chlumec etc. Once I paid dark Lobkovitz 28 czk (1.1 euros), which was super cheap. If you are a beer lover, you can order degustation set and try all of them.

3. Chess, pool, shisha, homemade tea, a TV in one place - Utopia (link here)

The street: Divadelni 3.

Open: From Monday to Thursday from 2 pm to 2 am. Friday and Saturday 2 pm to 4 am. Sunday from 2 pm to 2 am.

How to get there: By tram 1, 2, 4, 8, 9, 11, 12 to Malinovskeho namesti stop. Bus 67 and night buses N90, N91, N92, N93, N94, N97, N99. By tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 to Česka stop. Buses N92, N93, N99.

A huge space located in a two-floor basement of one building. I mean, a huuuuuge space. If I don't have time to spend an evening there, I usually bring my friends there for sightseeing at least, just to show them around. Contains at least 13 separated spaces/rooms.

Once you enter the building, you see the reception which is a counter where are you paying the drinks before you leave. People usually don't realize that downstairs is the pub so if they don't know, they don't go inside.

Are you wondering what can you do there? A plenty of things! There you can book a room to play board games, watch a movie, or just have your own celebration. In some spaces, you can lay down on the floor without your shoes and smoke shisha. On some tables you have chess implemented. And in some a pool to play. You can order a huge selection of homemade teas (check the menu here) which you usually get in 1-liter bowls and it tastes like heaven. I'm telling you, you should check it out, cause the place is super cool!

The price of homemade tea is from 65 czk to 220 czk ( 2.5 to 9 euros). Of course, they offer a beer as well although is not that representable. They usually serve Poutnik, Doubravnik and some seasonal beer. The price is around 1.5-2 euros per half liter.

Miluji tě, polička ❤

A post shared by Teodora Stojšin (@teodorastojsin) on

The best place for dark beer and my personal favorite. Hipster place with cool ambient, open till the middle of the night even during work days. A much better place to hang out than Brno NON-STOP bars. They serve a famous dark Polička which is the reason for my constant going there.

This place is the most inspiring with all of their small jazz, swing, blues, rock, metal concerts along with reggae DJ. During the summer the garden is open, the atmosphere brilliant and the concerts are even outside. Concerts cost 50 czk (2 euros) and you get a beer for free with the entrance. Beer costs 34 czk (less than 1.5. euros)

5. Cat-friendly place - Pelišek (link here)

The street: Třída Kpt. Jaroše 37a.

Open: Monday to Friday from 10 am to 9 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 1 pm to 7 pm.

How to get there: Tram 3, 5, 9 to Namesti 28.rijna stop. Bus 67, night buses N92, N93. Tram 1, 2, 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 to Antoninska stop. Night buses N90, N91.

In huge love with cats? You should definitely take a look at this place than! It's not in the central center but it's still quite close to the main square. Basically, you drink and eat while cats are jumping and cuddling all over your table. The purpose of the place is to find a home for all the cats. Any visitor can bring home any cat he wants. Cool, right? It's the first place like this in the whole Czech Republic. They also serve a lot of vegan food. Cat lovers, is this enough reason to be in 10 coolest places in Brno article, huh?

Check their Instagram page and see photos here.

6. Totally weird kind of menu & cocktails - Super Panda Circus (link here)

The street: Šilingrovo náměstí 3.

Open: Monday-Saturday from 6 pm to 2 am, Sunday closed.

How to get there: By walking or by tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 to Šilingrovo Namesti stop. By night bus N89, N92, N93, N95, N99.

One of the top bars for tourists. The bar is totally hidden, under some curtains and without the address, you would never guess it's there. If the bar is full, you would be seated in waiting area which is, of course, totally weird.

Unpleasant thing about this place: They might offer you gin tonic while waiting, which will sound it's for free but in the end, they will charge you. That is why it's maybe tricky to consider this bar as a part of 10 coolest places in Brno. Anyway, people love it and that is why I wanted to share the cool thing sthis bar has.

What makes this place so unique is the method of choosing the cocktail. You don't get to see the menu - they offer you a selection of toys/objects. You choose which one you like the most and as every toy represents some cocktail. In the end, you got the one "which was meant to be". If you are really not in the mood to play this game, you can trick them and check the bottom of the toy cause it's said which cocktail is it. That is how you will also save yourself from the disappointment.

Prices are definitely higher than in other places and the cocktail price is from 170 czk till 350 czk (7e till 14e).

This is just a short video how the bar looks like.

The drink I got was served like this:

7. Board games lovers and a cool selection of drinks - Za zrcadlem (link here)

The street: Jaselská 16.

Open: Monday to Friday from 9 am to 10 pm. Saturday and Sunday from 12 pm to 10 pm.

How to get there: By tram 3, 11 or 12 to Grohova stop or the night buses N92, N93, N99. By tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 to Česka stop. Buses N92, N93, N99. By bus 38, 39 and N89, N95 to Komenskeho namesti stop.

Board games lovers, brace yourself! There is a whole bar dedicated to team players and a huge selection of board games. They have the whole big locker full of board games which you can borrow and use while you are there. There are few rooms full of people who are sitting on the desk or on the floor and playing till they get sleepy. What a great way to attract the customers, right?

Believe me or not, that's not all. They offer a cool selection of homemade tea with so many kinds of flavors and also have homemade ice tea. Everything is served in specific jars which gives even better impression of the whole place. Tumbs up for this place!

8. Coffee, cocktails, smoothies, and food - all in a hipster way - Skøg Urban hub (link here)

The street: Dominikanske namesti 5.

Open: Monday - Thursday 8 am to 1 am. Friday 8 am to 2 am. Saturday 10 am to 2 am. Sunday 12 pm to 10 pm.

How to get there: By tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9, 11, 12 to Česka stop. Buses N92, N93, N99. By walking or by tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 to Šilingrovo Namesti stop. By night bus N89, N92, N93, N95, N99.

Skøg is a place created in Scandinavian style. It's in urban minimalist style, all rustic wooden and it all the time smells like a fresh coffee, suitable for freelance workers also. The first thing you should learn about Brno is that you will not find a good coffee everywhere. Actually, if you order a Turkish coffee anywhere, you will probably get something different than you expect. That is why Skøg is a great place to drink any coffee you prefer without a fear.

The price of a coffee is around 54 czk ( 2.2 euros). Better check their pictures on Instagram here cause they are simply beautiful.

9. A place where mini train brings you the order - Vytopna (link here)

The street: Starobrnenska 12.

Open: Monday - Thursday 11 am to 11 pm. Friday and Saturday 11 am to 12 am. Sunday 11 am to 11 pm.

How to get there: By walking or by tram 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12 to Šilingrovo Namesti stop. By night bus N89, N92, N93, N95, N99. Or any transport to the main train stop - Hlavni nadraži stop.

A place with the unique delivering method. How does it look like? There is a mini railway around every table which are programmed to memories the number of the table. A small train is bringing your order. There is even a small bridge made to support the whole place. The big minus is that apart from that mini train there's no reason to visit it as it's usually as all the others.

Also, what is not that convenient is a type of beer they serve, Starobrno and Krušovice. Of course, Krušovice is a well-known brand, however, it's a shame drinking it while visiting Brno. Why? Being in Brno with all small factories with the amazing taste of the beer is just a heaven. Krušovice can be found anywhere so spend your time drinking some unique beer which you will not get chance to later. The price is from 35 to 40 czk (1.3 to 1.5 euros).

Check this video below and see why am I mentioning Vytopna in 10 coolest places in Brno article.

10. A place with your own tap - Mamut pub (link here)

The street: Bašty 8.

Open: Every day from 11 am to 12 am.

How to get there: Any transport to the main train station, Hlavni Nadraži.

What next can you expect in Brno? Mamut is located right next to the Main bus and train station (Hlavni nadraži). The place itself is usual but there is a room in the pub which has its own tap on a table. That is how a group can book those tables and fill their own beer as much as they want. How much you fill in, that price you pay when you leave. And that’s not all, of course. There is also a competition. A screen is on the wall, follows the competition and tracks the table with the most drinkable beer. Isn't this the good reason to include Mamut in 10 coolest places in Brno list?

The price of the beer is and you can choose from Radegast, Pilsner, Gambrinus, and Kozel. The price is from 25 czk to 45 czk (from 1 euro to 1,8 euros).
